Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mothers Day to my two beautiful mothers,  all my sisters, all adopted moms, all stepmothers, grandmothers, godmothers foster moms, and aunts who are moms.

Mother’s Day History

Mother’s Day seeks to honor and recognize the sacrifices and accomplishments of mothers. Mothers are recognized by family and friends regardless of whether they are biological or perceived maternal figures. This day offers sons, daughters, and anyone with a mother the chance to show their appreciation. Mothers are typically thanked with cards and flowers, breakfast in bed, or by agreeing to do all the household chores.

Mother’s Day was established in 1914 by US President Woodrow Wilson. It is observed annually on the second Sunday in May.

I value my mom as a strong, caring and loving matriarch of our family. My brothers and I consider her the “Queen Bee” and she is the one who guides and is the glue and center of our family dynamic. I never understood my mom growing up and why she was not as present in my life as a youth. It was until later in my life when I matured and understood that she was putting food on our table and financially spearheading the entire household. I have grown to love and respect her as a woman and parent. I am still learning all the ways in which my mom is… and it is a beautiful journey into her being and core.
